Event X Life Sciences: the THE project between innovation and sustainability at Stazione Leopolda in Florence
On October 8th and 9th, Florence hosted Event X Life Sciences at Stazione Leopolda, a key event for the future of healthcare innovation in Tuscany.
The event opened with the conference “The Next Health Journey,” which explored various aspects of health encountered throughout life, from prevention and diagnosis to patient care and the management of healthcare facilities.
The two-day event featured presentations and conferences illustrating solutions and technologies for immediate and future application, led by top experts in the field within the framework of the Tuscany Health Ecosystem (THE) and other health-related PNRR initiatives.
At the center of the discussions was the THE (Tuscany Health Ecosystem) project, a PNRR initiative aimed at rethinking the regional socio-health system through ten thematic spokes. This ecosystem seeks to develop sustainability models and improve synergy between research, healthcare, and social services. The THE project, structured around 10 spokes, focuses on specific aspects of health and sustainability. Each spoke represents different areas of intervention and innovation, ranging from digital health to artificial intelligence applied to medicine, to new models of socio-health governance.
During Event X, each spoke was presented through conferences and networking sessions, highlighting how Tuscany is at the forefront of building an integrated and sustainable healthcare system.
Event X Life Sciences concluded with a roundtable discussion titled "New Paradigms for Sustainability in the Socio-Health Ecosystem," moderated by Professor Nicola Bellè, Principal Investigator of Spoke 10, led by the Sant'Anna School. The roundtable featured prominent figures from Tuscany's healthcare and academic sectors. Rector Sabina Nuti emphasized the importance of integrated and collaborative management between research, healthcare, and institutions to address current and future challenges.
Participants in the discussion included Alessio Gramolati, Secretary of SPI CGIL Toscana, Simone Bezzini, Regional Councillor for Health and Healthcare, Alessandro Agnetis, Professor at the University of Siena, and Antonio D'Uso, General Director of USL Toscana Sud Est.
The roundtable highlighted the need to rethink the healthcare system, starting from a global and integrated vision. The creation of synergies between the public, academic, and industrial sectors was central to the discussion, along with the importance of digitalization and the adoption of new technological tools to make Tuscany's healthcare system a model of excellence at both national and international levels.
